This is a TBS business unit in the fields of research, training, and assistance for community empowerment project/program activities that reach all of Indonesia and collaborates with many parties, both government and private institutions (national, multinational, international). This unit is named PT Bina Swadaya Consultant.

The is a business unit in the fields of research, training, and mentoring of community empowerment project/program activities spans all over Indonesia and collaborates with many parties, both government and private institutions (national, multinational, international). This unit is named PT Bina Swadaya Consultant.

The services and expertise of Bina Swadaya Consultants are community economic development (livelihood), community-based clean water and sanitation development, community health development, environmental conservation development, microfinance institution development, social entrepreneurship development, agribusiness development, disaster risk reduction by the community, and development of non-formal education (life skills education).

Before officially transforming into BSK in 2003, this activity unit had started consulting activities since 1983. In the period 1983-1991, it worked with BKKBN in the Project for Increasing the Income of the Acceptor Group funded by the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The initial collaboration was to assist 300 groups which were later developed by BKKBN into 400,000 Non-Governmental Organizations (KSM).

The period 1986-1998 together with the Ford Foundation carried out the Social Forestry Program in Unit III West Java, Unit I Central Java, and Unit II East Java. This program has succeeded in developing around 9,000 KSM around forest areas with activities for developing savings and loans, productive businesses, and forest conservation.

In subsequent developments, this activity unit changed its name to the Tabang Division at the Bina Swadaya Foundation in the period 1992-1997. After that, it changed to the Department of Self-Help Development (DPK). In January 1998, DPK changed its name to the Directorate of Consultancy for Bina Swadaya (1998-2002). The change of name to Bina Swadaya Consultant occurred in 2003. Since then the activity unit which is engaged in training, mentoring, and publishing, officially bears the name PT Bina Swadaya Consultant, which is now a full legal entity.

Develop partnerships with various parties to increase service capacity to the community.
Maintain the independence and sustainability of the institution.
